American Kennel Club (AKC) The AKC is an organization dedicated to purebred dogs and offers a variety of information concerning all aspects of dogs in our lives.
American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) ARBA strives to protect and serve the Rare Breed Dog and serve all Dog Fanciers who are interested in the Rare Breed Dog. The most common explanation for a Rare Breed Dog is, a breed of dog not recognized by the American Kennel Club. They provide dog fanciers with a reliable show venue, and a stable registry.
American Society for the Preventation of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) The ASPCA provides means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States. Founded in 1866, the ASPCA and were the first humane organization established in the Western Hemisphere. They provide national programming and leadership in humane education, public awareness, government affairs and public policy, shelter support, animal medical services, and animal placement. They are a privately funded 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.
Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) The CKC provides registry services for all recognized breeds of purebred dogs and provides governance for all CKC approved shows, trials and events. The CKC is an organization committed to informing the general public about dogs.

The Senior Dogs Project The Senior Dogs Project: (1) promotes the adoption of older dogs; (2) provides current information on the special care that older dogs need so that they and their human companions may fully enjoy their golden years; and (3) documents the strong, loving bonds that people have with their older dogs.
Keeshond Rescue of Ontario, Canada Keeshond Rescue of Ontario is a volunteer group of Keeshond lovers, dedicated to ensuring that any abandoned or surrendered Keeshond in Ontario will be rescued and cared for in a responsible manner. This will include every effort at locating owners of dogs who have been stolen or lost, and at identifying and contacting breeders of dogs in our care.
Senior Dogs Project The Senior Dogs Project promotes the adoption of older dogs; provides current information on the special care that older dogs need so that they and their human companions may fully enjoy their golden years; and documents the strong, loving bonds that people have with their older dogs.

* Agility * Agility is a competition sport that tests a dog and handler's ability to perform as a team on a timed course, comprised of various obstacles.

Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) The ASCA holds agility events all across the United States. Their trials are often held as dual events with NADAC.

Canine Performance Events (CPE) CPE's Basic Philosophy is for the dog and handler to have FUN while competing for agility titles. Open to dogs of all ancestry whether purebred or mixed.
North American Dog Agility Council (NADAC) NADAC was formed in 1993 to provide North American dogs and their handlers a fast, safe and enjoyable form of the the sport of dog agility.� NADAC sanctions agility trials sponsored by affiliated clubs.�The purpose of a NADAC agility trial is to demonstrate the ability of a dog and its handler to work as a smoothly functioning team. Open to dogs of all ancestry whether purebred or mixed.
The United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) was organized in 1986 to promote international standards as developed in Great Britain, which have become the basis for the world standard in dog agility. Open to dogs of all ancestry whether purebred or mixed.
* Animal Assistance Therapy * Animal Assistance Therapy provides human and animal interactions to adults and children in a variety of human care facilities.
Delta Society The Delta Society has numerous programs in a variety of animal assisted therapies.
Therapy Dogs International (TDI) TDI is a volunteer group organized to provide qualified handlers and their Therapy Dogs for visitations to institutions, facilities, and any other place where Therapy Dogs are needed.
* Canine Freestyle * Musical Canine Freestyle or just Canine Freestyle is simply dancing with dogs to music.
World Canine Freestyle Organization A fun sport for the owners and dogs, and the audience. Canine Freestyle is based on basic obedience training, it adds other dimensions such as music, timing, costuming, routine development and showmanship.
* Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) * CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community.
Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) Welcome to the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program. Started in 1989,the CGC Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the CGC test receive a certificate from the AKC and as of January 1, 1999, they are automatically recorded in the AKC's Canine Good Citizen Archive.
* Conformation (Show Ring) * Conformation is a purebred dog sport, where shows strive to select individual dogs that best represent the distinctive features of a breed.
AKC - Conformation AKC Dog shows or conformation events, are the signature events of this organization.
CKC - Conformation The CKC provides detailed information on Dog shows and conformation events.
* Flyball * Flyball is a rousing team sport for dogs that was invented in California in the late 70's.
North American Flyball Association (NAFA) In the early 80's the sport became so popular that the NAFA was formed and became the worldwide authority for Flyball. Flyball is a relay race with 4 dogs on a team.
* Herding * Herding dogs demonstrate their ability to work a variety of livestock (ducks, sheep, cattle) in trials throughout the U.S. and Canada.
American Herding Breed Association (AHBA) The AHBA was founded in 1986 in response to the increasing interest in herding activities by owners of a wide variety of breeds.
Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) The ASCA was established as the parent club for the breed in 1957 and incorporated as a non-profit corporation. You do not have to own an Aussie in order to be a member.
* Obedience * Obedience Trials test a dog's ability to perform a prescribed set of exercises on which it is scored.

The American Mixed Breed Obedience Registration was established in 1983 in an effort to improve opportunities for mixed-breed dogs and to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of their handlers in obedience competition. AMBOR provides support to these handlers and affirms the accomplishments of mixed-breeds in all avenues of service to mankind.

United Kennel Club (UKC) The UKC recognizes over 300 breeds of dogs in (8) distinct breed groups. Their events range from Agility to Conformation, Obedience to Weight Pulls.
* Rally Obedience (Rally-O) * Rally-O combines obedience with a bit of Agility in this fast growing dog sport!
APDT Rally-O competitions are open to all dogs regardless of breed, mix or ancestry.
* Search and Rescue (SAR) * Search and Rescue dogs and their handlers are dedicated to helping find lost or injured persons in all kinds of emergency situations.
National Association of Search & Rescue (NASAR) NASAR is a not-for-profit membership association dedicated to advancing professional, literary, and scientific knowledge in fields related to search and rescue. Comprised of thousands of paid and non-paid professionals interested in all aspects of search and rescue - the humanitarian cause of saving lives.
North American Search Dog Network (NASDN) The NASDN helps members provide the highest quality search dog resources for their communities and aids in the networking of these resources thorought North America.
* Tracking * Scent tracking is something all dogs do naturally. The sport of tracking involves the dog locating a specific scent item(s), over a course (the track) without any help from the handler.

PennHIP PennHIP stands for the University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program. PennHIP is a multifaceted radiographic technology (x-ray) for hip evaluation. The technique assesses the quality of the canine hip and quantitatively measures canine hip joint laxity. The PennHIP method of evaluation is more accurate than the current standard in its ability to predict the onset of osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease-DJD) and is the hallmark of canine hip dysplasia (CHD).

Tufts New England Veterinary Medical Center (TNEVMC) was established in 1979 as the clinical component of the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.
